IDNOG (Indonesia Network Operators' Group) is an independent and not for profit organisation. IDNOG is not under any existing institution or organisation in Indonesia. It is a community based efforts from volunteers. Members of IDNOG are people from ISP/Network Operators/Content Player/Education Institution/Regulator in Indonesia.
IDNOG was setup under an initiative to get together all networks operators in Indonesia to share experiences, work together and learn from one another. We are open for any one to join into this community. IDNOG conducts yearly conference.
One of the oldest NOG in the world is NANOG (North America NOG). NANOG is a very active group in North America, it has facilitate sharing among members and many people has benefited from it. They conduct twice a year conferences and with a very high mailing list traffic.
In Asia we have JANOG that was founded in 1997 and SANOG (South Asia NOG) founded in 2003. In the ASEAN region we have SGNOG, MYNOG. In the bigger scale like Asia Pacific we have APRICOT.
In any NOG there are a few components for members to share information. First one is the conference, where the committee will invite expert speakers to give presentation, it could be in the format of tutorial, news sharing or workshop.
